Isernia

Isernia is in a hilly area where it dominates large areas where there are small streets. Near the city of Isernia in the summer of 1978 were found the remains of an ancient human settlement Paleolithic, dating back about 730,000 years ago. The importance dell'insediamento derives from the presence of a walking surface made up of the bones of animals hunted by men, with significant quantities of artefacts that contribute to knowledge of the natural environment, and the oldest attestation by the use of fire man. In 1983 was set to Isernia, the premises of the Museum of Santa Maria delle Monache, the exhibition entitled Isernia-La Pineda, a camp oldest of 700,000 years.
