Piedmont
Piedmont is a region of north-western provincial capital with Torino. Bordered to the west with France, north-west with the Valle d'Aosta to the north with Switzerland (cantons Valais and Ticino), to the east with Lombardy south-east with the Emilia-Romagna and south with Liguria . The territory of the region is predominantly mountainous and the main mountain ranges are the Alps, which surround the region to the west, and the Apennines, located at the border with Liguria and Emilia-Romagna form a natural boundary. Many are also the mountain lakes of origin as glacial Lake Maggiore, one of the largest lakes of Italy which marks the border to the east with Lombardy, along the river Ticino. In the country there are two sites registered by UNESCO in the List of World Heritage. These are the Savoy Residences and site Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy, including in the World Heritage list in 2003. Currently was suggested that further application for inclusion in the UNESCO list famous wine area of Langhe-Monferrato-Roero.
